Meta-analysis: a procedure for statistically combining the results of many different research studies. The more speci c the problem the greater the hope (panic attacks vs. depression) Some therapies are ineffective and even harmful. Evidence-based practice: therapists make decisions about treatment based on research evidence, clinical expertise & knowledge of the client. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (emdr): recalling traumatic scenes by triggering eye movement.
