Document Summary

Module 12: culture, gender, and other environmental influences. Genes expressed in certain environments well influence our developmental differences. Genes dictate most of our brain but experience fills in the details. When living in an enriched environment, that stimulated a natural environment made the brain cortex more heavy and thick. (rat experiment by mark rosenzweig and david krech) Shows that stimulation by touch or massage benefits premature babies. Brain maturation provides us with neural connections, and after experiences trigger a pruning process. At earlier ages you can master more skills such as the grammar and accent of another language. If a child doesn"t have vision in early years will not have normal perceptions. Its either you use it, or you lose it. Even when normal stimulation at an early age is critical, the brain will still develop past childhood. Parents are responsible for how their child develops and feel satisfied when they succeed.
