Prevalence generally lacking due to failure of people of pd to seek treatment. Origin and course begins in childhood / adolescence. If it is not treated it runs a chronic course. Gender distribution and gender bias in diagnosis gender bias exists in the diagnosis of pd i. e. histrionic vs. anti social. Predispositions are inflexible and maladaptive ceasing distress or impairment. Includes paranoid, schizoid and: paranoid pd: mistrustful and suspicious of others without any reason. Assume people are out to get them or harm / trick them and don"t confide with others. May be common for people who have scriphrnia family members. In childhood may have been mistreated or traumatized. Treatment: therapist and patient need to establish a trusting relationship (first step). Use ct, challenging the person"s beliefs and all people are malevolent and most people cannot be treated. Visual and audiotry hallucinations are not present with pdd.
