Employee engagement is like self-efficacy (chapter 3) - belief that you have the ability, role clarity and resources to get the job done. It is a person"s evaluation of his or her job and work context. Job satisfaction - how people like (satisfaction) or dislike (dissatisfaction) their jobs. Characteristics of the brain that tries to keep us balance by correcting deficiencies. Drives generate emotions and put ppl ready to act in their environment. Drives (and emotions from drives) form human needs and translate into decisions and behavior. Drives is the background and needs is what we eventually become aware of. Drives and emotions = prime source of employee motivation that will influence a person"s self-concept, experience, values and influence goal-directed behavior.
