Chapter 2: high culture- refers to cultural patterns that distinguish a society"s elite, popular culture- cultural patterns that are widespread among a society"s population. Subculture: cultural patterns that set apart some segment of a society"s population, ex. People who ride chopper motorcycles, korean north americans: many people participate in subcultures and don"t even know it, involve not only difference but also involve hierarchy.
