Resistance against him was led by the rajputs, aristocrats in india. By 1200, the ghazni was replaced by the delhi sultanate. That threat finally broke up in the 14th century. A new islamic state emerged with the tughluq dynasty (1420-1313) It extended its power into the deccan plateau. But, it began its decline in the 14th century. Tamerlane was the ruler of a mongol khanate called samarkand. He gained power while the mogul empire was disintegrating. He had control of the caspian sea, and he defeated the ottoman turks. When he died, the mughals, and portuguese traders replaced him threat-wise. Islam reached islam through arabs, and turk-speaking converts. Arab merchants were active there, but arab armies did not reach.
