The different systems: central nervous system (cns)- receives and processes sensory information. Sound, taste, etc: connects to the spinal cord and controls most nerves over the entire body, peripheral nervous system (pns)- the part that actually carries impulses to the. Contains motor nerves that preform the messages that the cns commands. This is also split up into two separate parts the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. Somatic nervous system- does voluntary movements such as turning on a light or swatting bug. Parametric- helps your body store and conserve energy. Neuron- cells that the brain uses to communicate with: neurons do not regenerate or multiply in number, approximately 171 billion neurons in a typical human"s brain. Genetics can affect the number of neurons a person has and how they work. Soma- the body of a neuron, what controls the release and uptake of neurotransmitters: similar to the body of a cell.
