There is no significant interference in daily life and person"s behavior is not obviously odd or bizarre. Positive symptoms: delusions: an irrational belief involving a misperception of life experiences, hallucinations: sensory experiences a person believes to be true, when actually they are not. The most common one in schizophrenia is auditory, person hears voices that repeat thoughts, comment on appearance or behavior, argue, or give commands. Inappropriate affect: showing emotions that do not suit a situation. Catatonic behavior: unusual motor behaviors in people with schizophrenia: disorganized speech: disconnected, fragmented, interrupted, jumbled, and/or tangential speech. Negative symptoms: flat affect: showing very little emotion even in situations that seem to demand much emotion, algoia: speaking very little to other people and appearing withdrawn. When person does speak the language is very basic and brief: avolition: inability or unwillingness to engage in goal-directed activities such as caring for oneself, working, or speaking to others. Delusions: persecutory delusions: most common in those with schizophrenia.
