North america: physical geography, most of the mountains are in the west, almost halfway across, appalachians in west but they are not high and got worn down over time. They are considered more like highlands: latitude, plays a critical role in n. america, high latitudes in west, low latitudes along us mexico border. Nearly tropical: climate, high altitude climates in mountains, deserts in the west steppe/prairie or true desert, mediterranean climate in california (never rains during summer, hot and dry in summer but cool and rainy in winter). Extremely good for agriculture: mid-latitude transition climates, continental midlatitude climates in upper midwest or northeast, united states and canada, two of the largest countries of the world in terms of land area. 1: population wise they are not close to leading the world. Canada has about 33 million: both countries are highly urbanized.
