Type function: be reader-friendly, establish an information hierarchy. Elements of typography: help create harmony unify a piece. Serif the short stroke extending off the main stroke of a letterform: serif type tiny strokes, or serifs, at the tip of each letter (times family) Sans serif type without serifs (arial: for print, serif body text works best, good at body text visually (websites, tv, good at being seen at a glance. In digital, body text should be sans serif. Script/cursive: cursive letters are not connected, difficult to read, good at creating a vibe, character, tone, needs to be fairly large, does not work for body text. Type size: good way to create hierarchy, repeat patterns.
