Print layout program- makes newspaper, magazine, business card, direct mail, poster, etc. Can create longer items like books: used for any type of printed publication. Gutter: white spaces between columns bombarded w/ visuals- some remembered, most forgotten: mass media is dominated by visuals, method for seeing and analyzing visuals producing high-quality, memorable visuals. The more you know, the more you see aldous huxley. No contrast w/ typography- all same size- not good. Use all caps sparingly or not at all. White space=negative space- space where there"s no content. The design of something should reflect its function. Each story is its own little visual unit (newspaper)- makes it easier for audience to read. When you"re thinking about the function of something, think of this first: Medium: what is the outlet/where is that message going to appear- magazine, business card, etc .
