The purpose of the assignment is to develop your skills in interpreting and analyzing philosophical thought and to help you to prepare for the essay. You will be graded on the quality of your writing, the clarity of your explication, the strength of your analysis, the accuracy with which you represent the ideas of the thinker, and for following the instructions. Assignments are to be typed using a 12 point font and double spaced. Do not use any direct quotations, but explain everything in your own words. Reference the pages in the text where the ideas you describe can be found using footnotes (a bibliography is not required for this assignment).
