Inquiring about life : organisms adaptations to it"s environment are the result of evolution (process of change overtime that results in various organisms, biology: scientific study of life. What is life? (most fundamental question in biology: organization, biology includes microscopic organisms to entire planets. Properties of life: order -structure, evolutionary adaptation, ex. Blood flow for body temperature: energy processing, food to power, growth and development, genes, response to the environment, stimulus. 1/7/2018: molecules: chemical structure consisting of two or more atoms (units, chlorophyll is a pigment that makes a leaf green & absorbs sunlight during photosynthesis. In each chloroplast, millions of chlorophyll molecules are in systems that convert light to chemical food. Reductionism: zooming in through the levels of biological hierarchy at ever-finer resolution: reduces complex systems to simpler components that are manageable to study, powerful strategy in bio, example~!
