Partial sightedness (low vision)- used in educational contexts to describe a visual impairment that requires special education services. Legal blindness- have a great deal of useful vision that most students who have visual impairments read print. Acuity- is determined by having an individual read the letters on a chart, each line of which is composed of letters written with a certain size of print. If a person can read the line has 20/20 acuity. Individuals who from 20 feet can read only top line, where the print is 200 have 20/200 acuity = legally blind. Field of vision- the area around them that they can visually detect when looking straight ahead. Tunnel vision- defective sight in which objects cannot be properly seen if not close to the center of the field of view.
