Public communication- a transaction between a speaker and an audience. Listenable speech- one that is formatted to be easily understood by listeners. Speech participants- the speaker and the members of the audience. Speech setting- where the speech is given, what the time is, when the presentation is made and the attitude of the audience. Purpose of the speech- the speaker"s expected outcome for the presentation. Plagiarism- when a speaker uses the ideas and words others as his or her own without giving credit to the originator of the material. Fabrication- making up information or guessing at information and making it appear true. Post-speech analysis- paying attention to reactions following speech. Audience analysis- accessing the demographic, psychographic and rhetographic characteristics of your perspective listeners. Demographics- listeners" descriptions and backgrounds including age, gender, religion, ethnicity, education, occupation and race. Rhetorographics- the place, time limit, time of day, and emotional climate for the speech.
