Automatic routines help us make sense of the billions of messages we can receive, but not perceive, in an instant. Many media services like google do filtering for us. Meaning matching: when you use personal memories and learned definitions to establish a meaning for an encountered piece of information. This type of meaning matching helps us to develop competencies, aka our ability to accomplish a task, or not. Meaning construction involves moving past denoted meaning of information and assigning our own meaning to it, personally. We use induction, deduction, grouping, and synthesis to accomplish meaning construction. Physical- physical proximity making us privy to a possible message. Psychological- trace element of a message caught in someone"s mind, even just temporarily. Perceptual- sensory reception and brain connection to exposure to a message.
