Document Summary

Chapter 21- critical theory of communication in organizations. Within the realms of communication, there are a significant amount of variables that contribute to how individuals interact with each other, both in and out of a corporate setting. This is framed between the corporate and the informational model within each interpersonal interaction. The corporate model looks at the entrenchment and the development of corporations and the influence it has on everyday life, even outside of the workplace. This is seen when individuals who work in the same business have similar behaviors that shape their interactions even out of the workplace. For example, if a business prioritizes being fifteen minutes early for meetings, this behavior will begin to bleed out into the person"s daily life and they will show up early to everything, because it is their habit. In comparison, the informational model presupposes that communication is about facilitating information for the real world.
