Phonological development also involves developing sensitivity to the phonatic rules of a pe(cid:396)so(cid:374)"s (cid:374)ati(cid:448)e la(cid:374)guage. Phonological building blocks: phonological development begins immediately after birth as the infant experiences speech in the environment, cue to segment streams of speech. One of the earliest phonological tasks infants face is parsing the streams of speech occurring in the world around them. When using prosaic cues, infants draw on their familiarity of language to break into the speech stream.
