Encode the information (names, numbers) from short term to long term memory focus main ideas. Remember that it"s not reproductive; it"s reconstructive. Responses you make while the speaker is talking. Backchanneling cues- messages that lets the speaker know you"re paying attention. Makes it harder to focus on the speaker.
