He clearly admires athena"s warfare, using metis, more than ares, just brute force. Eileithyia: lucina: hera controls her, but eileithyia can be tricked and bribed. Cult: crete, cave of eileithyia, she may have been a cretan fertility goddess. Hymn to apollo: hera made eileithyia stop leto"s giving birth. Goddesses bribe her to let leto give birth to apollo and artemis. Alcmena in labour for a week until her maid, galanthis, tricks eileithyia. Hera did not want alcmena to give birth to heracles, told eileithyia not to let heracles be born. He must fight a battle when he is very old.
