Diomedes and heracles able to wound ares, but not kill him. Ares is the only child of zeus and hera who is considered an olympian. He clearly admires athena"s warfare, using metis, more than ares, just brute force. Eileithyia: lucina: hera controls her, but eileithyia can be tricked and bribed. Cult: crete, cave of eileithyia, she may have been a cretan fertility goddess. Hymn to apollo: hera made eileithyia stop leto"s giving birth. Goddesses bribe her to let leto give birth to apollo and artemis. Alcmena in labour for a week until her maid, galanthis, tricks eileithyia. Hera did not want alcmena to give birth to heracles, told eileithyia not to let heracles be born. He must fight a battle when he is very old.
