D now has his criterion for discovering error and truth. Affirming or denying something are the criteria for discovering error. Now he will dispel all of his previous doubts by finding a solution for all of them. Body has certain properties: quantity, parts, duration. He doesn"t know if the bodies that he has in his mind are in the external world. D says he can conceptually compact the idea that he has in his mind of the triangle. It has the nature of its own, the idea of a triangle has an essence or form. The essence does not depend on his mind. He can come to know certain properties of the triangle and what he knows is necessarily true. He knows that the sum of all the angles of a triangle is equal to 180 degrees. The essence of a mountain is that it must always have a slope or a valley.
