Language is a symbol system: way of communicating meaning with each other. Explanation: orients us to our social environment. Behaviour"s meaningful too (winking, that"s also laden with meaning) Behaviours take on part meanings in part social contexts. Cultural sociology describes and analyzes these systems of meaning. Examples: dogs, tattoos: rep part of your identity. During holocaust they were tattooed with a number for dehumanization.
