Looking carefully, we can make out four blocks. We could say that the _datapath_ does the work of executing instructions, while the _control unit_ specifies how this work should be carried out. You may think of the control unit as an abstract program that has been burned into the silicon chip; we call such a program hard-wired. this is current solution.
