Document Summary
Leadership is no longer a privilege but a responsibility. A leader is someone you choose to follow to a place you would not go by yourself. The first part of the definition of a leader is about choice. Need to be able to consider the needs of goals of the group, as well as (and sometimes instead of ) their own needs and goals. Need to understand how their work fits into (and advantages) the larger goals of the organization. Focus the majority of your efforts on the future. The future will show up before you need it. Someone who is not a successful part of the prevailing paradigm almost always formulates the new one. Need to understand that because the world is systematic, the actions they take in the area can affect other areas. Need to recognize that small changes can tremendously affect systemic organizations.
