His sons honorius and arcadius are the successors: honorius gets the eastern part of the empire, arcadius gets the western part of the empire. Partition of the empire in 395 ce. Power fall into mostly the masters of soldiers, others aside the emperors (they were young ) who were trying to keep the empire together. Stilicho (lived in 359-408 ce): magister militium and reagent of the throne. In 406 ce, the invasion of king radagaisus made him strip the soldiers from the rhine frontier in order to fight this invasion: this weakens the frontier, radagaisus is executed. On new year"s eve in 406 ce, several germanic groups penetrate into the empire. The translation varies in german, migration of peoples . In french, great invasions : ten of thousands cross the rhine (barbarians), but it is not millions as believed by some, there were no barbarian conspiracies. Saint augustine writes the city of god: both good and evil people suffer.
