Intro: question: what is a woman? , one is not born a woman, you become a woman, there is an essence of what it is to be a woman. There is something that makes someone a woman, and once we find this then we can know who a woman is. There is no essence that define a woman. The word woman does not have a specific definition. There is something in lived experience that makes one have the experience of being a woman but does not have historical context nor be the same for everyone. Female subjects are put in the position of being othered: not on an individual level, socially in the collective meaning-making processes in a society. Othering in this context becomes impossible to reverse. Social gaze or social mode of meaning-making that puts woman in the position of being othered.
