Story about where i was a year ago: 2 military jets flew over the building and buzzed the football stadium. It felt like he would die at any moment. Why did he perceive it as a plane crash instead of an air show. Part of the reason is that it was early september- saw the images of 9/11- they were played on the tv- got seared into our minds. The fact that it was in early september, people were talking about. 9/11- many news stories about it- contributing to why when he heard this ambiguous stimulus/noise, he immed. assumed that. We have lots of knowledge in our minds, the q. is how do we interpret something we are looking at, why do we see it as 1 thing rather than another. Function of activating knowledge, bringing it from stored knowledge to mind.
