Children learn mimicry and imitate their parents and others. The first caregiver serves as a role model for a future relationship. There is no definite cut-off between adults and children. Child development is the study of changes across time within the individual. A critical period: a time within a child"s life where if they learn language after that time, they will not be able to full acquire the language.
