Intrinsic motivation with the job is proven to be better than extrinsic. Pay and motivation: money may not be the best motivator for all behaviour, there are individual differences "not one size fits all" It is not undermined by $ rewards: self determination theory. Self determination theory: amotivation, not being motivated to do something. "external" because you"re responding to that external factor that"s unrelated to wanting to do the activity. You only go to class because otherwise you lose marks. Introjected regulation: you only do the activity to avoid guilt, because you "should". You only go to class because otherwise you would feel guilty: autonomous motivation (internal causes of motivation) Integrated regulation: you do the activity because it"s part of your sense of self; it"s a habit.
