KINESIOL 1A03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Urinary System, Respiratory System, Body Fluid
Document Summary
The existence and maintenance of a relatively constant environment within the body. The ability or tendency of an organism or cell to maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting its physiological processes: deviations away from the body"s constant environment the body will adjust to return to homeostasis. Values of variables fluctuate around the set point to establish a normal range of values. (36. 5-37. 5) Set point: the ideal normal value of a variable. (37) Digestive system: take in nutrients in the form of carbs, fats, proteins, taken up and transported. Circulatory system: carries the nutrients and oxygen to a variety of cells. Urinary system: waste products from the used fuel is excreted. Monitor our internal environment and make adjustments. 3 components: receptor: detects changes from set point, control center: decides whether the deviation from set point is enough to create a reaction, effector: can change the value of the variable.
