KINESIOL 3B03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Perseveration, Intellectual Disability, Pseudobulbar Affect
Document Summary
A disorder of the basic processing that might relate to the use of language and will give those people challenges in performing in their world (learning disability is a processing issue) Assessing a learning disability will start with a series of tasks that progressively become more complicated (use task analysis break down into parts) Compare expected performance for age to their actual ability to achieve those tasks. Tasks include: oral expression, listening comprehension, written expression, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, math calculation, math reasoning. Learning disability might be more significant if they are not able to orally express themselves as well as their same-aged peers (basic, fundamental task) Those with learning disabilities may appear clumsy/awkward or have a perceptual/motor disability (does not mean learning disability related to motor lack though) Caused by some change in the brain to cause a processing issue. Minimal brain damages: eef can pick up abnormal slight and specific impairment that might be same throughout population.
