Document Summary

Imaging of the vessels with the injection of contrast media. Introdu(cid:272)e (cid:272)atheter into (cid:448)essel of interest (cid:894)(cid:862)sele(cid:272)ti(cid:448)e (cid:272)atheterization(cid:863)(cid:895) Cardia(cid:272) angiography (cid:894)(cid:862)angio(cid:272)ardiography(cid:895: catheter introduced into the heart and/or surrounding vasculature for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation of cardiac related disorder, demonstrates chamber and great vessels. Coronary arteriography or cardiac catheterization: delineate the coronary artery system. Intravascular us: used in interventional cardiology, small us transducer travels through an introducer catheter, http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=f1zzf8-wvdc. Vascular us: advantages over dsa, non-invasive, cheaper, faster, no radiation, disadvantages, cannot treat disease, demos, vessel wall, lumen, direction, abnormal flow patterns. Indications: aneurysm, peripheral vascular disease, renal artery disease (direct or indirect methods, carotid disease. Interventional uses: locate vessels for vascular access follow up vascular interventions, good for dx and f/u but not for intervention more fluoro and ct. Contrast- enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (ce-mra: contrast, gadolinium or none, timing if very important- test bolus required to achieve optimal timing (peak arterial enhancement)
