The notion of conflict between the two forces of continuity and change you often find the truth. The parliamentary system we have in canada and ontario is based off the british system. It is called the west minster parliamentary system, based off the 1000-year-old political building right beside west minster church. Our system has the government sitting on one side of the hall and the opposition party sits on the other side. They debate each other and through this debate, policy and legislature is developed and refined through debate. The origin of our party system began in 1867 through the two major political parties we have in. Throughout the years, the meaning of these parties has changed.
