Document Summary

We are great at recognizing patterns and drawing meaning from face processing. Rst task in form perception: differentiate foreground and background. Functions of form perception, colour perception, vision: gives us info about the environment, always under changing conditions though, different lighting conditions. If the colours that we see were constantly changing, it would be confusing. Our perception automatically takes into consideration the differences in lighting: in order to perceive colour the same. Bottom up processing would lead us to believe that the two squares are the exact same colour. But our top down processing makes us believe that the squares are different in colour. Since these two processes interact, top down processing takes into consideration the context. We see a shadow, and we believe that the shadow makes the colour look darker. But in fact the squares are the same colour. Why is there such a strong reaction to this face.
