You can practice sports just by imaginging them. We can speak at about 200 words per minute. The 80,000 words in one"s english vocabulary are made up of only 40 different sounds (phonemes) These phonemes are spoken at a rate of about 11 phonemes per second. There is a hierarchical structure of language. Morphemes: smallest units of speech that contain meaning. We can identify speech by also specific features: manner of production, place of articulation different representational levels. A lot of terminology associated with the structure of language semantics: meaning syntax: grammar.
