Summary: all deviant id career concepts involve the idea of progressive stages. It begins with commision of an act deemed deviant: ends with labelled id self-defining as devanint, when deviant label is internalized, they seek out deviant associates and social networks, engage in further acts of deviance. In attempt to normalize our behaviour in front of others: are called vocabularies of motive aka vom. Vom timing and accounts: timing of a motive is very important, not only what and how something is said but when it is said. I. e. before or after the problematic act occurs. Involves two verbal deviance - accounts and disclaimers (i) accounts: are retrospective statements, motives/reasons offered after a negative act occurs, e. g. passing gas i had a burrito .
