German sociology: hegel and feuerbach influenced marx and eventually weber. Marx put their ideas together (dialectical and materialism). The way to understand change in society is to look at the conflicts and the contradictions around the material production process. These propel society forward as something new emerges. Slavery to feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism etc. Weber engaged in a debate with the ghost of marx, some of his ideas connect to marx and others go beyond. Help us to see how the lives of these theorists affected their ideas and works.
