Document Summary
Rbc: carry o2 platelets w clotting factors, release inflame mediators, wound repair. Leukocytes: neutrophils, lymphocytes (b+t), monocytes, eosinophils, very few mast + macrophages. Neutrophils: phagocytosis of microbes, most common + 1st at injury. Release granules containing his and active agents, found in tissues, role in allergy + parasite expulsion. Migrate from circ to tissue where they diff into macrophages, phagocytosis + bacterial mechanisms, apc. Dendritic cells bridge innate + adaptive, take up antigen and present it to t cells, arise from myeloid and lymphoid progenitor or monocytes. Interdigitating: found in t cell areas of 2ndary lymphoid tissues and thymus. Follicular: not apc, in b cell rich follicles, have high complement + fc rs, binds immune complexes + presents to b cells. Nk: kill infected cells, releases lytic granules that kill virus infected cells. Nk t: subset of cells w nk and t cell properties.
