How a person is most of the time (qualities that are most representative of the person) Sums a lot of info about the person. Helps to predict how that person will behave across a range of situations i. e. introverted (keeps to themselves and may be uncomfortable in large group settings) or extroverted (outgoing/ comfortable in social situations) State: temporary physical or psychological engagement that influences behaviour. Not very representative of how you usually are (changes based on situation) Statements and agreement ratings (true or false) (1-5, 1-10, etc. ) Tests are usually standardized, reliable and valid. Some are not (i. e. ones from magazines or online: mmpi-2 (over 500 true or false questions) i. e. i like mechanics magazines, or i have a good appetite, etc. Questions do not appear to measure personality.
