Victorian society: over 6 million visitors, great influence on fashion, joseph paxton designed the palace amazing glass and cast-iron structure, manufactured in the midlands of england and transported to its final location aka prefabricated. Impressive size larger than any of the gothic cathedrals: completed in less than 9 months, exhibition had to pay for itself no government financial aid. Imprisonment within the tight garments made undressing for sexual activity very difficult: crinoline.
