An organization chart is a diagram describing reporting relationships and the formal arrangement of work positions within an organization. An organizational chart identifies the following aspects of the formal structure: Informal structure is like a shadow structure made up of unofficial, but often critical, working relationships between organizational members. Social network analysis identifies the informal structures and their embedded social relationships that are active in an organization. It helps organization members to accomplish their work. It can help people to overcome some of the rigidities of a formal structure.
