These are brothers that go to war and many have died. No intelligence agency is prepared for this war. Everyone know a global war was coming but not when. People anticipated a war, but no one anticipated this war. Many went to war thinking it will be a small war but were wrong. Participants come from all parts of the world. Death toll was roughly 38 million dead ww2 is close to 70 million. New inventions ( battle of old tech vs new tech) Machine guns, airplanes, tanks, hand grenades, long range and accurate artillery, ww1 artillery was out of sight, better rifles, land mines, poison has, mustard gas, barbed wire. Based on intelligence , germans decide not to fight on two fronts (west france and east russia) but on own front. Over nine years they study and they have a conclusion that russia will be more ill prepared then the french and will not be able to *mobilize* effectively.
