As world tourism increases, additional demands will be placed on the transportation sectors. Air travel dominates long and middle distance tourism. Air travel has changed the way people view time and distance. A low-cost carrier (lcc) or low cost airline- also known as no-frills, discount, or budget airline is an airline that offers generally low fares by eliminating many traditional passenger services. Brands like jet blue, west jet, airtran, ryan air etc. used lcc business practices such as: unreserved seating, one passenger class, one type of airline to reduce fleet maintenance costs, using secondary airports. Top 9 u. s airlines by passenger revenue: delta, american, united, southwest, continental. Ryan air and spirit airlines seem to be vying for the ultra-low-fare" category. After eliminating reclining seats, window blinds, seat rest covers and seat pockets, ryan air is making noises about charging passengers to use the toilets and selling standing room.
