Transmedia is an extension of the storyworld, it"s not a product or the merchandise. Products and merch are branded but not part of the storyworld. The role of media in our world. Approach to media is not to treat it like it"s interrupting nature, but that it is part of nature. Looks at media as similar to nature, as part of our elemental world. If media are vehicles that carry and communicate meaning, then media theory needs to take nature, the background to all possible meaning, seriously. Studies of people"s brains while they"re watching a movie/show that the brain doesn"t look like a spectator, it looks more like a participant in the action . We feel emphatically when we"re watching a movie or show. Tell stories from all povs, not just one. Need to be aware of cultural disconnect. Characters that are well-rounded and break stereotypes. Characters that we relate to and that we want to support.
