Habitual shopping i. e. getting coffee everyday: need recognition basic needs, immediate purchase decision does not require much thinking, post-purchase behaviour. What has worked in the past (rewarded us) is likely to work again (reward us again) in the future. Habits allow us to save time making decisions and be thinking of other things as we do them. Routine can be often executed more efficiently than new behaviours. Provides a sense of discipline, order and control in our lives. More time spent on evaluating alternatives while shopping. Different for everyone because of varying needs. Requires a lot of time looking for information. Study of the processes involved when individuals, groups or companies select, purchase, use or dispose of products, services, ideas, or experiences, to satisfy needs and desires.
