Some of the things to keep in mind during an interview include: time, length and place of the interview. Introduction of yourself and your role: an indication of what will occur during the interview, presence of other individuals, confidentiality and its limitations, costs that the patient may need to pay. Communication is the exchange of information, where meaning is conveyed and it involves all behaviours, verbal or non-verbal and conscious or unconscious (gestures, emotions, body posture) By observing yourself, your behaviours, thoughts, expressions and emotions, you can understand how they impact someone else and therefore act accordingly to evoke the responses that you desire. Sending: non-verbal communication involves body language, posture, expressions, eye contact, hand placement or foot tapping and it is more reflective of your true feelings as it is less conscious.
