White sauce used to cover up any mistakes in cooking, it was a food based idea to perpetuate colonization. The white sauce is a powerful symbol for ideas of colonization. 1950"s and after introduced more diversity in cookbooks. They claim to know about science and innovation (technological advance) - after 1950"s a lot of appliances were invented. Had an expert author who is acclaimed with a lot of cooking experience (they could be real or fictional) The recipes were rigorously tested - they were tested in food labs. Food fetishism - we talk about colonization, we do this with food as well. That is the way it sometimes works out in society. In the 1950"s there were limits as to what food was deemed acceptable - food ways - each country, region, family has its own food ways. It is a system in which food is sourced, prepared, consumed, and disposed of.
