Psyc 102 - lecture 10 - personality & individual differences. Traits don"t all fall into same trait domain. No agreement as how we can classify traits in the first place. Situational constraints can be so powerful that can override traits in terms of predicting. Interaction b/w traits & traits and traits & situations. Ppl select environments in which they wish to interact on recurring basis. Said that if we take all things into account, we can predict much better how people are going to behave. Biggest challenge - ability to accurately predict. Suggested there are 2 dimensions to biological perspective that are important. To balance this out, seek calm, quiet environments. Would fall asleep if they did not seek arousing environments. Unstable/stable - speed of which changes in changes in arousal level occur. Cannot use it in theory in same way we can use because not falsifiable, it is only descriptive.
