Atoms are the building blocks of elements, if 2+ atoms combine they create either organic or inorganic compounds. Water: high heat, polarity or solvent properties. Carbohydrates: have c, h & o atoms. Acids: release hydrogen & are proton donors. Bases: release hydroxl ions & are proton acceptors. Lipids: have c, h & o & are. Atp: gives energy to absorb chemical reactions. Cell diversity multiple cells that vary in size, shape & function.
