In canada, women can take up to 50 weeks with 55% of income but wages are capped- mother and father can spilt the weeks - also applies for same sex couples. Us only industrialized nation that does not have legal institution for parental leave. 3/4 of kids outside quebec had mothers who work before birth - 90% of these mother took leave (44 weeks) Children in quebec more likely to have a further to take leave - 3/4. Rest of canada - 1/4 farther take leave. For those who do not have in contract paid parental leave: Quebec : paid leave for 5ish weeks. Rest of canada: paid leave for 1. 7 week.
